Proxy violence is the use of a representative or alternate force
to achieve violence against a target without committing a direct
assault, and often without looking guilty of anything. There are
types of proxy violence which are societal, but today we're going
to focus on individual use of it. This is usually an extreme form
of relational aggression, or aggression in which harm is caused by
damaging someone's relationships or social status, a la "Mean
Girls," where a person achieves her violent intent by inspiring,
persuading, paying, or tricking someone else into aggression
against her target.
So how does proxy violence happen?
